One of the talents that I admire most in people is the talent for music. It seems that a talented musician needs to be naturally-gifted in the first place – but in addition, to be truly great it takes incredible dedication, focus and relentless practice. It is that kind of dedication applied to any endeavor in life that leads a person to the top of their game.
This past Tuesday night 9/18/18 I was privilaged to have seen Ritchie Kotzen (@Richie_Kotzen) along with Gus G and Vinnie Moore at BLK LiveĀ in Scottsdale. What a great night – one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Awhile ago I discovered Ritchie Kotzen on Spotify. I stumbled on to a colaboration he did with Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead of an Ozzy Osbourne song “Desire.” It’s a great tune and Kotzen plays an incredible guitar. Gus G (@gusgofficial) is of Ozzy Osbourne fame (former guitarist for Osbourne) and Vinnie Moore (@Vinnie_Moore) is of UFO fame – both were absolutely incredible. And I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have seen these guys live and up close at BLK Live in Scottsdale.
A word about the music venue. BLK Live is a restaurant that has a large outdoor area complete with a swimming pool, private tables, outdoor bar and the main stage. It’s a fantastic venue. Just being there felt like vacation. Anyone that lives in the Phoenix metro area or who is visiting owe’s it to themselves to pay this place a visit.
On this pleasant moonlit evening among palm trees and a swimming pool watching the incredible talent I was thinking that all it took was a $25 ticket to get in. It occurred to me that it doesn’t always take money or being “connected” to have exceptional experiences. For that matter, I believe that some of the very best talents (be it in music, business or some other field) are actually very accessible – but you have to know about them and you have to be willing to reward them with your attention (and business). Living a high-quality life isn’t always expensive. But if you pay attention, sometimes you can experience life as if money was no object. And the inspiration from being around great talent can help to foster the ambitions you may have in your endeavors.
